Photo Specifications

Feature Articles
Images for consideration in feature articles must meet the following specifications. Digitial images are preferred.

• Must be clear, well-composed color images, submitted in a graphic format (eps, tif, gif, jpg). DO NOT embed images in the text file.
• Must be AT LEAST 300 dpi at the size the images will run in the magazine. For features, we prefer a minimum size of 4 inches by 6 inches.
• For each feature, we prefer to have at least one image that is larger (for the lead), with resolution at least 300 dpi at a size approximately 6.5 by 10 inches.

Magazine Cover
To be considered for the cover, an image must meet the following specifications:

• The photo must be a vertically oriented image, high-resolution (300 dpi at 9 inches by 12 inches) digital file.
• The image should be striking, well composed, include strong colors, and tell a story. Children, animals, bright colors, flowers, etc. in the shot add to the visual interest, and draw in browsers
(SOLAR TODAY is sold on newsstands across North America).
• The top third of the photo should be unimportant to the “story” the picture is telling because it will be covered by the
SOLAR TODAY banner.
• The photo also should have some “empty” space on either the right or left bottom of the cover for teaser lines.

For All Images
Please provide written permission from the photographer or copyright holder to use the photo one time in
